Eid
Eid is a term used in Islam to refer to a religious holiday or festival. There are two main Islamic holidays celebrated each year, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.
Eid al-Fitr is the first of the two major Islamic holidays and is celebrated at the end of the month of Ramadan, which is a month of fasting and spiritual reflection. Eid al-Fitr is a time for Muslims to celebrate the end of the month of Ramadan and to give thanks to Allah for his blessings.
Eid al-Adha, also known as the "Festival of Sacrifice," is the second major Islamic holiday and is celebrated on the 10th day of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah. It commemorates the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son Ismail (Ishmael) as an act of obedience to God, before God intervened to provide a ram in his place.
Both Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha are joyous occasions for Muslims around the world, and are typically marked by special prayers, feasting, gift-giving, and spending time with family and friends.
